Not my favorite announcer, but a great humanitarian. Considering all he has ever done to raise awareness for cancer research and donations, it really makes you question karma being a real thing. I hope he is able to beat this and continue to annoy every fanbase not named Duke, Florida, and Notre Dame for years to come

Hate to hear that. I met Dickie V in Long Boat Key, FL when I was 17. Super nice guy, very genuine.
I met him in Louisville once before a UK/UL game. He was with Rick Pitino at some hotel near Freedom Hall at and my boss and I were at a Brain Tracey seminar and went to the hotel for lunch. This would have been 96-97.

I was born in the mid 70's and he's been calling games as long as I can remember.

Others I hated seeing go. Keith Jackson, John Madden, and even Billy Packer.
