Alright Buckeyes, time for y'all to earn your keep and actually do something useful around here. What's there to do in Dayton that is worthwhile? I'm wanting to go up to a Dragons game at some point, and I know the Air Force museum is there. Would those two alone take up a good portion of the day? Dayton's only a 2 hr drive from Lexington so I figure get up early and we can be there by 10-11am. Catch an evening game. There's some restaurant chain called Friendly's that she wants to go to because it's some Northern chain, so I'm looking forward to sampling some of the finest boiled dishes y'all have to offer there.

Anyway, just looking at a day trip is there anything of note that is a must do or see there?

Well come on....I knew it was going to be a shithole because it was in Ohio, but there has to be some redeeming quality.

In all seriousness is it really just a rust belt city that's rough like Youngstown? I've never been, so maybe I already hit on the two things that are actually worth a damn there in my OP.

Now we're talking. Oregon district and Yellow Springs both look like what I'm looking for. Love hiking. Would be good to go hike, come get a brew and some grub, and then hit the game. I'll run it all by her and figure out a weekend we can drive up there.

The Air Force Museum is quite large and plenty to see although I enjoy the place its not for everyone and could spend quite a bit of time there, then dinner and a game. And if your so inclined drive another 45 min to the Neil Armstrong museum, in wapakoneta oh right on I-75 its perhaps a couple hours but a nice museum. Never thought of Friendlys as a northern chain, hmm, ours closed years ago.

Yeah thats why I asked. I didnt want to plan out a bunch of things and then find out the Air Force museum is an all day affair, or conversely find out its a two hour deal and have nothing to do.

Friendly's is a Northern chain to me because she's originally from Rochester and went there as a kid. Ive never seen or heard of it. All I know is she wants to go there.

PM me your address and I'll be more than happy to bring up some extra Kentucky memorabilia and apparel and you can rid yourself of that filthy Tar Heel baby blue. Youll thank me later.

Kind of plane related a couple years ago the wife and I were in a Cincinnati mall and they a store called Restoration Hardware and they have some unique stuff that sometimes only a couple of their stores will have due to limited supply and this one had a man cave / study with the furniture made out of pieces of a P-38 WW II fighter, the setting was awesome, of course so was the price tag.

I know all about Jungle Jim's. That place is simply incredible. My aunt and uncle live in Batavia so they spread the gospel to us.

Air Force Museum will probably take you 3 hours or so to get through. Don't rush through it. There's a lot to take in. I'm sure you know, but if you don't, it's free.

And yeah, Dayton is an old rust belt city. You'll see that when you go to the Dragons game.

Oh, Cincinnati is a dirty shithole no doubt.

Columbus is the only Ohio city Ive been to I wouldnt immediately describe as a dirty rust belt shithole, and I mean that seriously and not trolling.

Yeah, I've been a few times. That little area downtown, going uphill to the hood is damned scary.
C-Bus is one of my favorite cities, man. 100,000 college kids ready to party down, lol!

Cincy itself is not a great city although the view going North into the cut in the hill is amazing. But even the trolls, well those that have been there have to admit the concert serious at Fountain Square is awesome.

Now the Dragons are in the old downtown district, but the stadium is state of the art, and there are several decent restaurants in the area or for that matter it is a town with over half a million with the Burbs, plenty of places to eat.

Eh most of those idiot black hoodrats and thugs are all talk down there. Theyre used to suburban white folks acting scared. I had two try to come at me and my gf Tuesday night on the Purple People Eater Bridge after the Reds game got out late after 12 innings. Ive got a ceramic boot knife I keep on me that doesnt go off in metal detectors specifically for just such instances. If they had had firearms they would have drawn them initially, but since they were all talk off they ran like the chickenshits they are.
