It's light years better than seasonal fantasy. Anyway, while the college basketball contests are rather weak, there's still enough meat on the bone to have fun with it. Thinking about dabbling, but I've never really done fantasy college basketball. Have played daily with about everything else (NFL, NBA, CFB, MLB, PGA). Anyone here ever do CBB DFS? I play at DraftKings, way better than FanDuel.

No, but I'm hungry for more ways to lose money on the performance of 18-year-olds playing a game, so I've been thinking about it.

It's basically just fantasy basketball redrafted daily, right?

Pretty much. You have $50K to spend on 8 players to make your roster. I tried to beat Vegas for years (like you), probably from the time I was 18 until I began playing DFS. No way I was profitable betting on games, but have most definitely been profitable in DFS since I began about five years ago. The main reason for this is that you are trying to beat other people, not Vegas. Sure, there are some MIT think tanks and Harvard nerd number crunchers playing the game, but there are ways to limit their ability to compete against you. Anyway, it's way better than losing to Vegas and much more entertaining than seasonal fantasy, even though I still love the latter.

Have you seen the college basketball draft that I've had the last 3 years? We have 10 rounds, and lock in on 8 players before the end of December. Scoring is explained in this thread. I'll invite you next year, if you're interested.

Yeah. But, I can't keep interested without money on the line. I've seen a lot of your input around here and you know your shit. I bet you could do pretty well in the CBB DFS world.

@bignish is pretty successful when it comes to DFS. He’s had some pretty major cashes. Not sure he does CBB though.

I play nfl daily fantasy, sometimes college football. I fall into the traps of those huge ass tournaments where u pretty much have to have a perfect team to make any real money, but I’d hate myself if I ever put together the “perfect team” and had em in a 100 person tourney where the winner only gets like 250$ when I coulda have entered a tourney that the winner gets 10k. But the highest I’ve ever cashed was like 100 bucks and I’ve made enough shitty teams to give that back.

Definitely do it. I won $100,000 on a $4 lineup I put in my senior year of college that I spent like 2 minutes putting together lol one of the best days of my life.

A challenge in daily is being able to keep up with player value changes (NBA). This is a little easier to get a handle on in the NFL.

There's also that question about wanting to own or not wanting to own the players that figure to be heavily owned.

It's fun because you can apply an assortment of strategies.

College is much more difficult for me. It's not easy to get all the pertinent information as to who is playing and who is sitting. Coaches will discipline players randomly, the news feels more difficult to obtain, etc. Just my opinion.

If you get a player in your lineup injured early, you're done pretty much. Same applies if they are ruled out and don't play and you're unaware after lineups lock.

This is beautiful.

I sometimes fill out lineups while brushing my teeth.

The payouts are really front loaded I like it that way though. I've had a handful of big hits been playing about as long as you have. Lost a couple hundred first few months but kind of figured things out and I think I'm + roughly $1k overall, and I'm sticking in low rings, $1 - $3 mostly.

There's very little margin for error. You get an early injury, you're done. Get a late scratch after lineups lock, you're done. Mediocre game from high salary player, you're done. But these are things all players have to deal with.

Strategies vary, depending on # of games in a contest, etc. Lots of variables.

That. Is awesome.

I stick to $5-$27 single entries, so that kind of payoff won’t happen for me. Ha. But I understand the allure of the big games. It’s just too difficult to compete against pros dumping 150 lineups into every contest, imo. I’ve been playing for just over 4 years now. Up about $10K. You can go a long time without a win though. But when they hit, it’s as good as it gets. Congrats again on that win! Unreal.

Why do you think DraftKings is way better? I usually only play fan duel and I think it's just as good if not better. I play daily fantasy football and basketball all the time.

I’ve played both. That’s just like my opinion, man.

On a serious note. Better contests. Larger prizes on single entries. Better scoring system. Better app. Just off the top of my head.

I've been playing since 2014 and have gotten absolutely crushed in cash games this year unlike years past. Everyone is pretty sharp now and uses projection systems so you're better off putting in some correlated lineups instead in large field tournaments and being patient till you get a big hit like @829305 said.

Does Fan Duel run European Golf? Yeah, I'm sick. I am a regular in PGA and Euro Golf.

DK has better payouts. Their large GPPs are usually top heavy but the smaller ones are well balanced. At FD the GPPs are all top heavy.

I fvcked up my NBA lineups due to misuse of the APP and DK refunded my entries last night. Gonna put that free money into the Australian open if anyone wants to tango.

DK will always refund money. I've reserved and forgot to put in lineups, and have contacted em a few times when it's happened. Never any hassle and money back in the account within minutes. Have a buddy who I'd bet has forgotten to put in 20+ lineups, probably more. Every time he got his money back without any flack. Hell, he has a stock letter he uses each time, just changes the amount. Ha.

Yeah reserved and empty lineups makes more sense.

I made lineups just didn’t export them the way I wanted. They even refunded my “good” lineup that lost. I was happy ha.

Yeah. I stay away from the multi-entry tournaments, but DK are way larger than FD. No contest.

I didn't realize fanduel went back to not dropping the lowest score for the NBA until last night. This was something they had started last year.

I like fanduel more than draft kings because I tend to win money easier with them. I guess not as many sharks play on there but it still has got harder over the years to win.

Dk Going public in 2020. They HAVE to absolutely be making $$$$ hand over fist. Even if they only took 1% of the money entered into the fantasy games there’s no telling how much they take in a week esp during football season.

Kentucky will be one of the last to legalize gambling I’m sure, so I haven’t been able to see how their sportsbook works (I play on some off-shore site called mybookie.com)

I don’t understand all of the ins and outs of the stock market, but if it’s solely predicated on the company making profits, It’s literally impossible for DK to lose money on the fantasy side of things. I don’t know how common it is for casinos or gambling establishments to even go public or have stocks, but I do know that when all is said and done the “house” ALWAYS makes $$$$$
