Why's Pitt on this list for losing to #5 ND by less than a touchdown? I didn't catch any of that game but did they lose on a big bonehead play or something?

I’m sorry to say this but I voted Auburn. At this point in the season, a loss to Tennessee is inexcusable for Auburn. Now, at seasons end we may look back and say this was a turning point for the Vols. But, I doubt it.

Well we were a three score favorite at home to a team that hadn’t won a conference game in two years and hadn’t beat us since Bill Clinton was president and we got dominated. Pretty solid resume for clown team right there.

Edit: a stat I saw earlier to further prove clown-ness. We gave up eight third and long plays. On those 8 conversions Tennessee gained 168 yards (21 yard avg).

Pitt had a great opportunity to beat a top 10 team on the road but blew it by being too conservative on offense.

Late in the 4th quarter, the Panthers did not do a good job of trying to extend their lead over the Irish. Instead, Pitt tried to burn the clock and play keep away but ultimately failed with that strategy.

I would not call Georgia a clown team (that's usually reserved for FSU, lol!).

LSU was just that good and had the game plan to dominate Georgia. After last week's physical game against Florida, that physical style had the carryover effect in the Tigers' impressive win over the Bulldogs.

All year long, LSU (6-1) played tough competition and came out ahead in the majority of their games. The Bayou Bengals were battled tested in their games against the Miami Hurricanes (5-1), Auburn, Florida (6-1) and now Georgia (6-1).

Georgia just ran into a buzz saw in Baton Rouge!

Thanks for explaining. Still not sure that qualifies them for clown team, but certainly the classic recipe for blowing an upset bid.

Tennessee could be improving. Some of the vols scores over Auburn came due to defensive turnovers which is something that is a specialty of Pruit when he coached at Alabama, previously.

    What is a clown team?
    {When you think something certain will happen only to be surprised in the end?}

Pittsburgh has been getting beat downs by top 25 teams all season (51-6 to Penn State & 45-14 to UCF). I would have never expected teams like Pitt (19-14), Vanderbilt (22-17) or Ball State (24-16) to be one of the teams most likely to almost beat Notre Dame this season.

With an opportunity to take down Notre Dame at their own place... Judging by some of their close scores, I just don't think Notre Dame is good enough to be one of the top 4 teams for the play-offs. However, the media and the irish supporters want to push this team over other emerging teams.

They dont deserve to be on this list every week. There's a difference in losing a good game to a decent or good team vs clowning. Having said that, today we earned that trophy and we're gonna take it! I still can't believe we lost.

They did call a fake punt when they had 2 timeouts and over 3 minutes on the clock, that play had no chance.

    Hang in there Husker fans.
In some of your games, Frost has your guys playing some good offense.

Nebraska probably just needs more talent defensively to try to hang on in their games (i.e, vs Colorado and now Northwestern).

It can happen when one runs into another great team at their own place. Home-field advantage can be huge in college football. This is the third top 10 win for LSU who easily have the best resume of any college football team.

As for Georgia and Alabama, these two teams were winning all of their ball games by blowouts so they were rightfully rated as 2 & 1. Other top teams like Ohio State (27-26 over Penn St), Clemson (28-26 over Texas AM; 27-23 over Syracuse) & Notre Dame had numerous close calls. The Buckeyes will probably be the new #2 team now.

However based on on-the-field achievements, I would put LSU as either #2 or #3.

LSU was #5 only last week before their loss to Florida. Many computer polls still have LSU ranked in the top 10. The Tigers should have never have been dropped so much by the media to #13. There seems to be some kind of an agenda by some of these voters who want to make certain that some teams from other conferences will be represented at the top over more deserving teams.

Sorry, had to go with Nebraska again... but as far as what team might be most shocked and got stone cold outplayed... Georgia. Wow. LSU is here to ball...

Which particularly annoys me cause I gotta wonder how good them dirty Gators are...

Hey OP, considering your options last week your lack of Ohio St. and Notre Dame on this poll is disappointing. It'd serve you right if Colorado comes out and beats your team down by 21+ tonight.

Down 28-14 to Iowa St (2-3) and just threw an int.
