BPI is actually said to be used by the selection committee in the selection process.

Get this.....BPI has UNC, yes University of North Carolina above Louisville, Missouri, Memphis, and Oregon. What in the actual Fukc?!

They have Gonzaga and Baylor above Texas AM and Michigan State?!

They have six loss Arizona over Alabama, Florida, and Purdue?

This is a rating/ranking that simply can't be used for anything serious. Period.

Basketball Popularity Index?

Yet another thing that ESPN touches that turns to shit. So glad the B1G no longer has a contract with ESPN. used to be pioneers in sports programming. Now are a microcosm of futility.

Arizona has won 13 of its last 14 with only loss on the road at Texas Tech. During that stretch they've beaten 5 ranked teams including avenging that loss to Texas Tech.

Florida has won 7/10 with only 2 of those vs ranked opponent. Granted those were both vs #1 team in teh country, but still 7/10.

Alabama more interesting. They've also won 13 of last 14 with 4 of those vs ranked teams. Not quite as impressive as Arizona, but obviously very close. That explains why they aare actually tied in BPI so OP didn't read that right.

Purdue has won 12 of it's last 16 and 11 of last 12, but have only beaten 2 ranked opponents during that time.

tl:dr = OP post is full fo shit, Arizona deserves it's spot. Florida is gay.

The fallacy with your thinking is that many of those ranked teams that Arizona had defeated are no longer ranked:

#16 Cincinatti (unranked, #50 net)
#21 West Virginia (unranked, #39 net)
#25 Baylor (unranked, #26 net)
#3 Iowa St (currently #10, #10 net)
#13 Texas Tech (currently #12, #8 net)

Arizona has currently defeated only two ranked AP teams: Iowa St & Texas tech.
Arizona (17-6, 11-1) also has many more losses than either teams like Alabama (20-3, 9-1) or Florida (20-3, 7-3).

=============================================================
As for Florida's top net wins which is more important for NCAA seedings purposes:
-------------------------------
#101 Virginia
#87 Florida St
#64 Arizona St
#59 Wake Forrest
#51 North Carolina
----- SEC ------------------
#43 Arkansas
#42 Vanderbilt
#34 Georgia
#31 Texas
#4 Tennessee
#1 Auburn
-----------------------------
Florida still has five Q1 games (#30 Miss St, #34 Georgia, #13 Texas AM, #6 Alabama & #22 Ole Miss) and two Q2 games left (vs #44 Oklahoma & # 80 LSU)).
=====================================================================

=====================================================================
Alabama's top net wins:
--------------------------------------
#72 McNeese St
#69 Rutgers
#51 North Carolina
#32 Creighton
#12 Illinois
#3 Houston
----- SEC --------------------------
#44 Oklahoma
#43 Arkansas
#42 Vanderbilt
#34 Georgia
#30 Miss. St
#17 Kentucky
--------------------------------------
Alabama has won 14/15 games and is currently #1 in Coaches poll and #2 AP poll.
=====================================================================

Anyways according to the net ratings, Arizona (#7), Alabama (#6) and Florida (#5) are all similarly rated highly and bunched together. Each of them want to progress to the #1 position where only one team can succeed there and there is still plenty of basketball to be played.

Lmao so you're defending the BPi? Well let me just destroy your whole argument. Arizona was rated at 7 on the BPI before their whole 13/14 even happened! They were 7th on the BPI when they were 6-5!!!

Arizona is doing great, but the BPI is absolute garbage. Zona has no business being ahead of Bama or Florida at this point (maybe Purdue was less of a reach). Whether they are actually a better team right now is another story and who knows it could be possible.

tl;dr Your argument is shit, so lighten the F up Francis!

Uhh the BPI number is the same but the BPI rank has Arizona 5 and Bama 6. So no they are not both officially tied.
