I've read everything, and I'm not sure you're really explained your point beyond Michigan State being more talented than Purdue. And I'm not sure any Purdue fan would argue with that. But you stated that Purdue "won't be able to compete with athletic freaks." So that begs the question, who else in the B1G are you considering "athletic freaks?" If it's just Bridges that you are referring to, I'm not sure why you would use that isolated comparison as an evaluation for a team.

Not trying to be combative, but I just don't understand the larger point in the context of predictions for the upcoming season if your only example is the runaway B1G POY favorite and expected top-10 draft pick being a tough cover defensively.

Not my only point. I said I have a different definition of talent than you. MSU is more talented, but Purdue is more experienced. I wouldn't call a team with a ton of seniors talented, I'd call them experienced. That's not a discredit to them, they are both important. Whiel they are all talented because they are on a big ten B-ball team, I would call Purdue more experienced than talented. You guys are making it seem like me calling your team more experienced than talented is a knock on you guys, when I'm just stating facts. While Purdue is obviously talented I'm just saying they are just a more experienced bunch then an ultra talented one

Who else is an "athletic freak" in the B1G? You've cited Bridges; are there any others?

More so just really athletic players. Look I guess it was just poorly worded but I don't think what I'm saying about Purdue is really out there. They aren't top 25. They are experienced players but not the most athletic or explosive. I think they are good, but not great

So what are the major differences between a team like Northwestern and Purdue?

Not many. Id give NW the slightest of edges but I could see Purdue being better. I think Haas is a force and Vince Edwards is first team big Ten, but NW all around roster is better. Plus great playmaker Bryant McIntosh with Scottie Lindsey in the backcourt. Vic law is really solid too. I think both teams are good, by me saying that about Purdue is not me saying they are a bad team, I could see anywhere between a 2-6 finish, but most likely 3-4. I think your a great poster and don't mean to disrespect Purdue or anything, just looking at the roster that is my overall observation

I'm not taking any offense, just engaging it a little debate. And I only asked that last question as a way to better understand where you were coming from. We clearly disagree on this isolated topic, and that's fine.

I totally see why you would think Purdue is better, honestly it's really split for me. We will have to wait in see, which is why this is all in speculation

I actually have picked Purdue fourth in the conference (behind MSU, MN, and NW). I was more disagreeing with your point about Purdue being able to compete with high level teams and being a top-25 level squad.

Oh I'm sure they will be able to compete, they just as of right now to me aren't top 25. But again, we know nothing till we see them play

Anybody want to bet that both Minnesota and Northwestern don't finish in the top4. My God people are overreacting to their miracle seasons last year.

I'll make that bet. If they both do, I win, they both don't, you win, and if it's split it's a draw

Agree. Northwestern is extremely overrated. Minnesota might be decent, nothing special though.

I know, Pitino was gonna get fired two years ago, last season he was one of the best coaches in the league? Well which one is it? Not to mention Minnesota lost to a nobody in the first round. NW makes its first NCAA tournament ever...
No one took these teams seriously till half way through the season.

The jury is still out on putino as a coach. He's had some pretty awful teams and just one decent year. As far as nw goes i wouldn't be surprised if they miss the tourney.

He was one win away from the NCAA tourney his first season here. I'd say that is a decent year as well.

Until NW beat Wisconsin, there were people questioning whether they'd make the tourney with their weak resume.

Purdue will be fine this year not saying we win the Big Ten but we will be fighting for that. We will be a top 25 team.

Purdue will finish anywhere from first second or third with a small possibility of 4th Place

You do realize Minny and NU return the
bulk of their respective team with a year more of experience? Minnesota will challenge for the conference title next season. NU might not be able to duplicate the results of last season (I think their overall talent is relatively average), but NU will still be a formidable challenge night in and night out.

They are better, but since when on this board does one good season vault you to the top 4. Or is it just that Iowa's good seasons don't translate to top 4 finishes the next year?

Minnesota had a much better season than Iowa. I think Iowa will jump forward, but top 4 is not as likely for Iowa as Minnesota.

    What was Iowa's good season?

Iowa not even in the tourney in Lunardi's latest bracketology. Where is Gil to call him a racist?

Comfortably, I have Minnesota over Northwestern this coming season.
    Love the makeup of Minny.

    MSU
    Minnesota
    Bum rush for third, imo.
    Purdue, NW, Iowa ... Michigan/Maryland(?)

(not that they'll be bums, lordt I hate the offseason)

What are you talking about? As an adult, you really should stop taking every perceived slight to Iowa basketball so personally.

One good finish vaults a team to a projected top finish for the following year when said team returns most its key contributors.

I believe Minnesota has better talent than Iowa along with much more experience. In regards to Iowa, I like Tyler Cook. But, the rest of the roster is mediocre to below average imo.
