BIG 10 plays 9 conf games, SEC and ACC only 8. This should be factored into playoff consideration.

If Ohio St beats Wisc, that will be their 4th quality win with other victories over Penn St, Michigan St and Michigan. Bama’s best win is over Miss St in a very mediocre SEC. Not to mention only 8 conf games. If the Big 10 only had 8 conf games, maybe OSU plays Akron at home instead of Iowa on the road and they are solid at #1 in the playoff standings.

    NOOB!

If you can’t do any better than that just go away. ******ed post is well ******ed and from a likely ******.

PS: ACC only has 8 conf games as well.

Already factored into overall SOS. Some teams play a quality OOC game. Some don't.

The 8/9 game argument has no bearing on what the committee does and has been overblown by some posters.

Not sure I would consider Michigan a quality win this year, especially since OSU got John O'korn Michigan.

tOSU will need another 59-0 beating to regain the benefit of the doubt with the committee. It's not happening.

Why have 400 teams in your conference if you only play some of them once every 10 years??? I fixed the thread title.

Why try to make artificial caveats to strength of schedule discussions?

Sounds like you are using an agenda in an attempt to cover up an ugly blimish.

I’m not a Buckeye fan but OSU has a higher strength of schedule than Bama and the margin will be higher after today. If OSU beats Wisky, they deserve to be in over Bama. Better overall resume, better wins.

You seem to be leaving out results of two particular games.

SOS is important, but you don’t get credit for losing

It should, but I don't think I've heard anyone mention it yet.

If it was the other way around, and the SEC/ACC played 9... I guarantee we wouldn't hear the end of it.

8 conference games and their 9th game was like Mercer or something in November. That’s pathetic.

It would be nice if the SEC did go to a 9 game schedule. You only play certain teams from the other side once in like 6-7 years if you're Alabama, and this year it was Vanderbilt and Tennessee.

That damned B1G.........undermining the conference's chance at a big post season payout by going to a 9-game conference schedule. That's crazy.

First, it's not easy arguing 5-6 Mercer is any worse an opponent than 2-9 Illinois. The signature win for both teams was against Western Kentucky.

Second, Alabama has played 3 ranked teams (LSU, MS St and Fresno St) and by playing Wisconsin, Ohio State will have played 3 ranked teams (Penn St, Michigan St, and Wisconsin). Sorry, but Michigan is not ranked.

Third, there is only 1 national champion that had 2 regular season losses--LSU in 2007. But its 2 losses were to 8 win teams and both were lost in triple overtime by 1 score. That's far better than losing 2 games, one by 15 points at home and the other by 31 points to a unranked team.

Fourth, since 1960, 25 teams have won a national title with a regular season schedule of 0 to 3 ranked teams, but 0 teams have won a national title with a regular season 30+ point loss to an unranked team.

Fifth, Alabama has only 1 loss, by 12 points, to the #2 team on the road. Ohio St has 2 losses, one by 15 at home to a ranked team, but the other was by 31 points to an unranked team.

Sixth, since the AP Poll began in 1936, can anyone list any team with 2 losses, with one of the losses by 30+ points to an unranked team, that even played for a national title? I cannot.

I agree, team like Fresno St are far better than Maryland, Rutgers, Nebraska, Illinois so it should count against the Big Ten. Keep trying, Iowa a 7-5 team beat OSU by 31 points. You have 2 LOSSES !!

And make cross divisional matchups less diverse? Maybe we can just go to 6 game conference schedules then.

Yep, another option. As good as saying everyone has to do everything the very same way in every conference. Right?

You are a dumbass. 2/10 on your troll. Up your game.

Clemson has the #6 SOS in the country per the Massey Ratings and the Team Ratings site. The worst I have seen their SOS ranked is #11 by Sagrin. Playing 8 conf games didn’t hurt our SOS one bit and it won’t as long as they continue to schedule 1 good OOC game against a P5 and Carolina doesn’t completely suck ass at the end of the year when we have our rivalry game for the 2nd OOC P5 game. (In case you can’t add, that is 10 P5 games a season) Compare that to your nine conf games teams SOS and get back to me.

If you had argued that teams that played an 8 game conf schedule should have scheduled at least 2 good P5 OOC games so every one played at least 10in the regular season and pointed out which highly ranked teams didn’t, you might have gotten somewhere with your troll.

8 vs 9 argument is the worst to ever argue about..does that one game really matters when it's all said and done..teams are quick to point it out when it works for them but lose and it's a big thing..reminds me of how certain Washington fans was complaining after they got an L with their 9 conference schedule

Actually, that extra conference game has resulted in Maryland and Rutgers being added to OSU's division. Meh....hardly impressive.

Yes it does. What if Clemson had a 9th conference game and played at Miami instead of The Citadel at home....makes a HUGE difference!
