Kentucky had 8 players that ended up playing in the NBA, including Cousins, Wall, Bledsoe, Patterson, Miller, etc. And was dominated most of that elite 8 game.

I mean yeah WVU was very good that season but it's not like they were senior laden (only 1) and only 1 player to get any NBA time.

Nobody will ever have a team that talented again and Calipari choked. I would still be pissed if I were a Kentucky fan.

This isn’t a popular opinion, and I certainly get that from a metric standpoint. That said, in my mind I’ve always got ‘12 Syracuse up there in this discussion

strictly on talent every year UK doesn’t make the final 4 should be considered a choke job. Kentucky has very rarely played a game in the last decade where they were less talented then the other team.

Sometimes experience trumps talent.

But WVa was En Fuego from 3 point range in that game. UK went 2-22. West Virginia had that 1-3-1 zone and UK settled for long jumpers they weren't hitting and didn't get the rebounds.

What made it worse was Duke pounded WVa in the FF. Ugh.

We got over pretty quick. Going to final fours in 4 of the next 5 seasons with a title and having arguably two of the best seasons in history during that time gets you over a lot of things.

We probably won’t get over 2015 till we finish an undefeated season however. So many of us likely won’t be getting over that one.

2012 UNC was pretty good but without Marshall can't really qualify.

So, if a team that doesn’t shoot that well throws up a million threes and bricks almost all of them, you put zero blame on the coach? Really?

Obviously some of the blame is on the coach. He'd be the first to accept the blame postgame. He didn't get his players to adjust. I wouldn't say "Calipari choked" though.

If I had to guess, WVU defense probably caused it. I haven't seen that game in awhile though so I'd have to rewatch it to see if it was because of defense or our guards going full ******.

All I know for sure is Cal's teams are always on the bottom of the NCAA for 3PAs and he hates when they shoot more than 15-16. He literally has an anuerism on the sideline if they chuck 3's. So I can guarantee his team didn't take 32 threes that game by design. Poor adjustments and shot selection by our coach and guards probably. Huggy Bear is a great coach too.

Not to mention had no clue how to attack a 1-3-1 zone as if WVU had invented it right there on the sideline. When u have the more talented players, 1-5 and lose, the coach is gonna have to take some of the heat.

Living in Columbus, I was taught to not like ichigan. I like Michigan now due to you. It is amazing how much this board has changes my perceptions on so many teams. Instead of not liking teams, I have now just have a favorite and others I like less than my favorite. I don't dislike any teams.

Very good '12 team. Just one of 2 teams that beat UK's championship squad and gave them all the wanted in the tournament. That tournament game is still one my all time favorites. Just an absolute great game.
Might have been the most entertaining game of the tourney. I'm convinced had that Indiana team been in any other region, they go to the FF.

'75 Indiana: 31-0 entering Elite 8 vs Kentucky. Lost 92-90. What could've been. Scott May's injury was crippling.
'93 Indiana--Alan Henderson injury. That was a terrific team, before the injury.

It was my favorite game of the Tourney. Was at my sister's hammered. Had been grilling out, swimming, and riding four-wheelers all day. It was a very fast paced, up and down game. Plus it was UK vs IU!! I really wish the series would get renewed.

Even though IU lost, I enjoyed that game as much as any game....The hype...the atmosphere.....Then, well, the game lived up to the hype.

Yes, I'd love to see the series renewed as well. Just a great rivalry.

I've been so bummed about the cancelation of this years Madness, I've not taken part of the now popular re-watch games trend. But I think tomorrow,I'll put both of the IU and UK games on from that season.

Those games were as good as sports get. Win or lose.

Me too...IU's finally gonna make the field---and the damn thing gets cancelled. Imagine that. IU basketball is fcvking cursed...Anyways....Today was going to be a great day...2nd round games....IHSAA Semi-State games.

Now? ****ing Young and the Restless.

I've been watching old games on YouTube. Any game....1990 UNLV vs GaTech in the FF. I think some people forget how good that GaTech was. Loaded---Kenny Anderson, Dennis Scott and Brian Oliver. Not to mention---'90 UNLV was pretty damn good themselves.

I'm completely shocked IU isn't winning regularly, you have all the resources to be at the very top consistently. You know my history with Indiana and I just can't fathom how frustrated you guys must feel.

If you don't have the right people in place, it doesn't matter what resources you have. Put me or you in Earnhardt's stock car....Yeah.......that ain't go well. Same with Indiana. The powers to be had, and have made it known that the they never want to see the basketball program, be bigger than the University. Never again did they, or do they, want a situation as to where the HC of basketball, was bigger than the University. Not to mention, that same administration has made one debacle of a hire, after another. Its why this program has been where its been since late in Knight's tenure. It's all about pride with the BOT.,and those within power, at Indiana. Even those involved with the Knight firing are no longer with the University---their actions are.

I am hoping with the hiring of Dolson as the new AD changes things. I think it does.

Great metaphor. kudos

This will probably come off as smug or arrogant, but when your a fan of greatness, it's actually ok to root for other teams to be great as well. I hope the new AD works out.

Sorta of like claiming the 2020 national title?
Atleast that would have some validity. Indiana going 27-9 and being a 4 seed is not what most people would think of as a should be Final Four team. I know 27 wins for your team is like 35 wins for my team but I can assure you that they are not the same thing. Not even close. 27 wins is a nice season but they lost when they were supposed to. Anything beyond that would’ve been overachieving and that goes for all regions.

Ok there skipper....Man you like touting all those wins, don't you. Its shame you have less titles than ****ing Uconn. And look, if history is where you wanna go in terms of where teams are suppose to lose---and or win. Well history tells us that Kansas probably does what really good KU teams normally do---Lose to a mid-major in the 2nd round. So no, there isn't much validity to KU fans claiming a title(this year). History tells a different story:

2009/10: 33-3. Overall #1 seed. Lost in 2nd round to No. Iowa.

Following year: 35-3-again, #1 seed. Again, a lot of wins. And, well, again, lost. This time to 11 seeded play in specialist, VCU. Sure it was in the Elite 8. But I mean, 35-2, # 1 seed? You ain't suppose to lose that game to an 11-seed.

2013-14: 2 seed. Lose in 2nd round to 10th seeded Stanford..
2014--15: 2 seed. Lose 2nd round to Wichita State...

If anything Schooner, Kansas has taught us not to count on anything come March. Especially with you guys.
