Who's Lexus?..... And lol fvcked up still at 10am?! I miss college.
Solid minutes from Spike will go a long way for Purdue.
Yep everyone who had off season surgery is at 100% except for Freddie McSwain. Curtis and Green were impressive. DeRon really did himself a disservice by not being able to arrive until August because of his grades. He then had a couple nagging injuries once he did arrive, so he is behind the 8 ball. It will be nice to have a solid 5 be back up to Thomas. I don't think you will see a lot of them on the floor together.
Crean was messing with the lineups last night and actually started Morgan at the point with JBJ, McRoberts, OG, and Thomas. That lineup did a pretty terrible job, so he brought in Robert and Newkirk together and IU took off.
Interesting. My outside perspective would be that your most dangerous lineup would be some combination of:
That three guard lineup with O.G. at the 4 could be pretty explosive if it can defend effectively.
Man this post limit really blows... I left Rivals when Peegs left. How is the new site on Rivals is it worth joining? @IUBtown @SNU0821
Have you ever been to the Carmel HS parking lot? A Lexus wouldn't draw a second look.
Honestly, not worth joining. I think it may have prior to having Snow involved. But his info he provides is top notch. He doesn't seem to have the typical IU slant in his reports. He just tells it like it is or how he's hearing it. I think it's better on Peegs. But that's just me.
I assume the same people, fighting the same fight all day everyday right? I do understand how you can say the same shit over and over and over. That goes for both sides of the fight. Its funny how a lot of them talked trash about the move, but have slowly been making their way over to Scout. Snow has been a great addition.
The mods on the MB can take care of it. They have a pinned thread or the problem.
Its gotten better than it was i think. More conversation than scout, patrick isnt as bad as he was but plaxico has taken his place as the most annoying poster. Definitely more info on scout but still semi enjoy rivals. With that said my membership is there until march, doubt ill renew but may just because of tmb.
Cline's suspension has increased to 6 games instead of the initial 3.
So what is the story here? Did he really try to keep it hidden under Painter, or did Painter not have all of the facts regarding the arrest?
Regardless hopefully for him it is a lesson learned.
Personally feel like it should be longer, but at least increasing it is the right move. The fact that other schools arent as tough on things like this shouldnt matter either, whats right is right.
Combination of both I think but I don't know for sure. I think Painter initially heard the report and didn't realize that it wasn't just having marijuana. But yeah I don't think Cline told Painter about it until now.
I think this is the right now. After seeing all the facts, this wasn't just a run-of-the-mill pot possession. Glad to see CMP nip it in the bud.
I have to believe that Painter didn't have the full story when the suspension was originally announced. Doesn't look great to be adjusting the suspension after the news breaks, but that's how it goes sometimes.
I am guessing Cline is not going to have a very friendly few weeks of practice.
If Edwards has a good start to the season, do you see Cline being buried a little bit?
I think you're right. He's likely to be very familiar with the Mackey bleachers for a while.
As for the depth chart, if Spike shows he can play ~15 minutes per game without his health regressing and C. Edwards plays at a high level, he could definitely struggle for minutes through the non-conference. But in the long-run, this Purdue group has been prone to dry spells from the perimeter, so I have a feeling there will always be a floor on his minutes as a guy who can stretch the defense.
I think that the player who may take advantage is Smotherman, once he gets past his own suspension. I saw Cline getting a lot of minutes at the three when Vince Edwards slides to the four and I think that Basil will get a good shot at those minutes. Purdue could really benefit from having his athleticism on the floor, assuming that he has really progressed defensively. This Purdue team looks a lot more athletic with Smotherman and Carsen Edwards playing significant roles.
Couple more gems from their free board, regarding the Cline situation:
Not really. Simply because they get the punishment they should at Purdue and swept under the rug at IU.
Yep swept under the rug at IU and is part of a degree program at MSU.
Lol except every kid got suspended at IU who screwed up. Only person they can disagree with that i'd agree on was Hanner's DUI, which he was eventually kicked off the team.
Quoting free boards is an exercise in repeating inanity.
For sure. I really just go over there for comedic relief.
That's where @mathboy and @proudopete live. They know better than to come here. They have personally, along with a few others, turned that place into an absolute $hit hole. It's perfect for comic relief.
Kesselschmiede...that fella has some problems, and I am pretty sure is an eleven year old child.
Seen IU live in two exhibitions and a scrimmage now.. I know they've played no one and all that.... But I'm honestly going to be shocked if OG doesn't win BTPOY. He is just a freak and that damn impressive.
Will he primarily be playing the 3 or 4?
He is just so efficient and talented. It just looks effortless.
Honestly just depends on each teams lineups, Crean had 4 guards and him at one point yesterday. He'll likely guard the opposing teams best scorer most times.
Just saw this... How goes it, Toast? Long time.
As for OG, I think it just depends on lineups. I think he can guard any position that about any team throws out there. I didn't want to continue the hype train that's been surrounding him, but after seeing him live a few times now.. I walked away shaking my head everytime. He just doesn't look like he even belongs on the same court as everyone else. He's even managed to get shorter shorts this year.
Things are good, finally escaped the Midwest and moved to Boulder... and all my clients are in the Bay Area (here now) so I'm not complaining.
Very interested to see OG play this year. And to a lesser extent Lyle.
In Purdue news, Taylor just had surgery – "out indefinitely." He wasn't going to be a regular in the rotation, but we're gonna have games when we need his depth. Gonna be a big loss when we're in foul trouble... gonna have to do something like Vince/Basil at the 4/5.
Today is the day. The last day of this thread. Good luck to everyone in their opening games. I look forward to watching.
Same to you and everyone else! May your teams all have healthy seasons!
This was a fun thread.
Without a doubt.
Until he's able to get his teams to constantly play at high level during the regular season year after year...hes not a top 10 coach overall. He's been a top 10 tournament coach, but during the regular season his teams have been middle of the pack. Besides for 2013 season I don't believe he's had a team to average being in the top 5 during the season. I don't have the stats in front of me, so its possible its happened another season also, but theres be a lot of middle of the pack finishes in the BIG.
God forbid he develops his team/players over the course of a season.
Name me 10 current better coaches.
hooked a big one with this. Well done.
The sad thing is, I think the new guy is serious.
@IUBtown Why da fvck you still rocking the Billy D profile pic?
God fvcking damnit who bumped this shitty thread I’m in the wrong off season
