Cubs need to figure their pitching woes out soon. What initially looked like a down NL is looking anything but now. Lot of contenders.

I don't think this was posted on The Soundoff, but pretty cool on Memorial Day...

Powerful image shows Braves fan holding umbrella for Marine Corps JROTC member

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/braves-fan-holds-umbrella-over-jrotc-member-rainy-game-goes-viral/

A photo from an Atlanta Braves game is going viral online. The photo did not capture the action of the game, but instead, a random act of kindness on Memorial Day.

The photo of the kind gesture was posted on the Braves' Twitter. It shows a Junior ROTC cadet standing at attention next to SunTrust Park's memorial, which is dedicated to all of the soldiers who were prisoners of war or missing in action.

It was raining, so a man in the stands got up from his seat and stood next to the high school-aged cadet with an umbrella.

"Respect," the team simply captioned the photo.

I fear you are correct, KY boy.

I've said it from the word go..........Braves don't have October caliber pitching. It will be the reason for no postseason this year. I do believe they'll get 90 wins & it'll be a fun season, but when Teheran is a staff's ace & not #3 or #4 guy, that says everything you need to know. Not a solid closer neither.

Yep, the Nats have way too much talent to not win this division. Hopefully the Braves will make it challenging for them though!

Phillies will fade in late July-just not enough pitching in the middle of the rotation and the defense needs serious work.

Braves will fade in late August for similar reasons.

Nationals will win the division but fade in October because that's just what they do

    And the Mets suck always

Agree with this but you have to think they'll make a trade deadline move to bolster the rotation if they are still in the division title / playoff hunt. For so long its been about building that farm system and now that they've brought some of the talent up you'd expect them to do what it takes to win.

Pitching looked good for a change. Also helped that the Nats forgot how to play defense.

Indeed. Loved the big hit by Tucker, the hustle by Freeman & Albies, and loved Newcomb (P) beating out that DP to score a run!!

Struck out Harper hitting 99mph on the gun to end it as well. 22 straight retired w/ only hits against coming in the 1st and 9th. Impressive game!

over the long term, teams that score the most runs should win the most games. RD is my favorite stat of standings. The only team with a better RD is the Astros blowing away every one with +129!!! Cubs are scoring like an AL team with our bats struggling.

Tis true.... though.... I miss the days of that minuscule ERA from the starting pitching..... 1 or 2 runs and it was over.....

Sorry @KLeonidas Screw the Cubs too! Braves thread here! ;)
Actually about 35 minutes before the Braves attempt 3 in a row against the Nasticals. Bout to turn it on and pop a top. Actually, pull for the cubbies except against the Bravos! :)

Going to the top of the 14th. Freaking pitchers battle! Braves reliever Biddle just struck out 8 in the last 3 innings. Most by a Braves reliever since 1970.
