    *sigh*

My bud from all the way back to 6th grade and I were texting and I asked him did you have any hot babysitters when your kids were of that age? He said yes..one. And he texted me a current picture. She is now in her 30s...late 30s.

    What do you have...

    Where to begin?

    * Getting up with the aches and pains (I take 400 of Motrin and one Tylenol prior to going to bed to diminish the pain)

    * Listen to New Age on the way to work

    * Still consider AC/DC a "new band."

    * Climbing up the stairs in a slow teudge rather than a run or brisk walk

    * Finding myself grunting slightly when I get out of my chair.

    * Seeing hot young captains and majors young enough to be my children. The 2LTs and enlisted trainees are young enough to be my grandchildren.

    * Seeing my young LTs that served under me retire as Colonels with 30 years of service.

    * Seeing old soldiers who were rail thin back in their younger days as big as a house today.

    * Seeing police officers and doctors young enough to be my kids and even grandkids.

    * Coming to this board and reading posts from some about the good ol' days back in the EIGHTIES!

    * Realizing that there are two generations of Americans who never knew what life was like without a computer, 300 channels on the TV or smart phone.

    * Getting out of my car after a 40-minute drive home. I consciously try not to grunt.

    and most sobering...

    * Looking to the future and seeing that it is much more finite than before. In the past, I could count on ten year plans. These days, I just want to make it ten more years.

Some of you all are much older than me so I defer to your expertise.

I just know I'm officially "not cool"...took me awhile to accept that.

Pain everyday almost anywhere or sometimes everywhere is what makes me feel old. I hate to guess what it's going to be like when I actually become old.

I'm older now than the Big Guy (Mr. Carlson) was on WKRP. I think he was 48 in the 1st season. When first aired, I thought he was quite old..lol.

    My birth certificate.

A few years back I had a young mother, early 20's, in my office for a visit. She was a new mother and was asking me some questions about our experiences raising kids when she commented on how things were when she was a kid in the early 80's. As an afterthought she asked me what I was doing in, I think it was 83, when she was 4 or 5. I felt quite old telling her that I was exactly where we were as we were talking at that time, in the same office, seeing patients just as I was when talking to her. Had a similar experience when a young mother came in with her five year old and reminded me that her mother brought her into my office when she was five. Yeah, those things make you feel your age.
