Basically, 41 votes is better than 16, and the SEC is now essentially the America East, but with much less academic prestige.
I imagine this will prompt the SEC to continue expansion. There's been talk of Mich, OSU, FL St, Clemson and ND on the SEC list. 41 votes maybe better, but the money will follow the SEC.
^ There is literally no scenario on Earth where a Big Ten team bolts for the SEC. Period, period, period. Football money is pennies compared to the Big Ten Academic Alliance.

I kind of fell like adding UT and OU has made the SEC worse.
I dont understand how its gonna work but theres still plenty of mid majors capable of using this to catapult to big time programs that can give some sec teams a decent game. UCF, Boise, maybe even smaller schools like coastal carolina and ULL are pretty solid programs.
Plus for basketball all the nonfootball schools like nova and the entire big east as well as gonzaga and even teams like wich st, butler, xavier, creighton, plus memphis and houston and the rest of the aac. Its not like the sec will forced to just play conference games all season on every sport.
But again i dont know exactly what this means for those teams not in a P5 conference.
I wish they woulda went ahead and invited the big east to the alliance for basketball and the aac honestly just to get to a 64 team tourney lol.

I’m half wondering if we start to see the AAC pursue the teams that don’t excel in football like Kentucky, Texas, Missouri and Tennessee, etc.
I believe the football powers like ‘Bama, Oklahoma and LSU will likely die on the hill that is SEC football, but the others are going to be more open to adapting and see that the AAC is better positioned from a non-football standpoint as the SEC withers away. Should be interesting.

I’m an adult, so I don’t know Billy Madison quotes by heart and thus don’t know what that means, but I’m deadly serious.
The big elephant in the room is what to do with dead weight programs that are already members. ACC has this problem with Wake Forest. It's going to be super weird trying to pass off the biggest and best college football conference in the world and going oh and Mississippi State too.

Not sure why folk are so caught up winning titles---especially you. I mean you were just preaching about how it ain't about winning(titles)----its about $$$; And now you throw out this gem of a post. No the Big 10 has not won many titles since 2000. What you fail to mention is how many times they have played in the Championship game.
Since 2000, the Big 10 has had 6 different schools, Indiana, MSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and Ohio State, play for a national title in basketball. Problem hasn't been getting there---its been closing the deal.
Football has been all OSU...2 titles, 4 title games, since 2000. MSU did play in the semi-finals(CFP) in 2015.
Big 10 has never been a baseball, savvy conference. Although MIchigan was runner-up in 2019. And my Hoosiers did get there in 2013.
