A non-political “How YOU doin?” thread

So it was a solid five hours. I can share some pictures later. It was really like a scene out of Outbreak... the hazmat suits, the soldiers, the police cars, the humvees. You never left your car, and only opened your window a crack twice the whole time. To take the test, they had like an extendable pole/arm thing that gave it to you, and then you swabbed your own nose and then put it all back together and put it back in the arm. It sort of sucked, because I sort of had to go to the bathroom, but the nurse at the window pointed out the ports Johns and I was like “Uh, no, no thanks to the covid-19 testing line Porto Johns, thanks.”

Really honestly impressive that they could get this whole system worked out. I mean, they’ve had plenty of time, but still.

I will say, a LOT of the nurses were SUPER cute. I mean, they seemed it, under all of the protective gear.

Hah! My last nurse, the one who gave me my swab test, had this little smatter of freckles and this cute little nose and green eyes and spunky hair under her thing and was SUPER f'ing cute. I made a dance out of her "15 count" for the test, and while I pulled out she danced to it.

On a more serious note, I read this a few days ago, and I LOVE this. When my dad was in the hospital before he died, there were fears he had TB, so every single person coming in and out had full masks and goggles and everything. It was actually very de-humanizing, and made it very hard to understand, too (he was half deaf.) It just made him, and us, much more anxious, you know?

When do we find out if @TheDude1 is Covid Positive? Besides driving to Home Depot, should be one it highlights of my weekend.
you need to get out more.

Any bet takers on @TheDude1 having it or not? I have $20 says he does. It's karma for starting a thread about "what porn do you guys watch", and talking about underage girls with pigtails. :D

too far?

FFS man! How are you STILL going to Home Depot?!

Oh, and I could die. But mostly how are you still going to Home Depot.

eternal optimist.

....and it was just a joke. I felt bad making it if that means anything. I'm sure karma will repay me soon.

Dude, if I have it I am basically over it, it seems, so joke away.

Might not even have it. Could just be a strange illness where I get chest heaviness and a cough and a sore throat and pink eye... which would be odd, given the timing, but...

They do pick up service to car and it’s pretty important that we get solar string lights for back patio. I don’t know. I just live here.

4-5 hours of yard work.

Beautiful day today.

Patio time.

I would love yard work right now. I have a 3 ft wide strip of grass between my back door and our parking lot. The landlord mows it.

Concrete jungle is not an understatement.

When I lived at home. I loved smoking a doobie, putting the walkman, and mounting the riding mower. That was a long time ago.

There was a fungus that came through in 2017 and into 2018 that destroyed the lawn. The guy who mowed it and 2 others on this block transmitted it to each lot so everybody got affected by it. I moved in last March and did my best to treat it and make it grow back. San Augustine grass btw. I was pretty successful but not as well as I would’ve liked to be. During the winter I just assumed I’d pay for somebody to rip up the soil and sod the entire front and back yard. Then I’d just maintain the yard. But $20 oil and impending recession changed my mind on that since it would probably be pretty expensive.

I enjoy yard work but sodding the front and back after ripping it all up is a bit more than I’d like to do. So instead I’m playing the long game which is getting the grass to grow back into the areas I want it to be in. I only made about 250 square feet of progress last year. Lol. I hope to do better this year but man, 2 months of 100+ degree weather with no rain will really **** that up.

Again, I've love to have those problems. I know when we move, I'll have a yard again, and I know it will become an obsession.

Moving has been pushed back a couple of months. We're hoping by August. Covid is the direct reason.

Nope. Pilsners. Bocks. I’ll do Pale Ale from time to time. I don’t like a high IBU count. 40 is about my limit.
wtf is a IBU count?

nvm. googled it. I don't know if I'd like some of you in real life. Winking

"it's a f'n beer, drink it".

*I feel like I'm going to have to shut this down until Monday. Disclaimer, I'm not responsible for what I post between now and then."

Bitterness unit. IPA’s typically have a pretty high count. Like 50+. Some beers go up to 90-100. Stuff like Miller Lite is around 5-10. The sweet spot, IMO, is 30.
I'm a high life man myself. It's cheap and I like it. Also, I'm not cultured at all.

I tried the higher volume beers and i think they gave me gout. So I don't drink those anymore.

I have a few I rotate in and out of from H-E-B. It’ll take me 2-3 weeks to finish 1 six pack. All of the brands are local to Texas. There’s also a brewery in town that I go to sometimes. Well, used to atleast. My wife went to high school with the owners so she knows them pretty well. Solid beer.

I usually don’t drink any mass produced beer anymore unless that’s all that is there. Not because I’m a snob or anything, it’s just I like to get the most flavor and best experience out of my time drinking a beer.

At the risk of sounding like wtfever, 6 beers just wets my whistle.

The opposite of bragging, I can pound a half of a case before starting on a fifth. I'm big guy but still...

I'm pretty sure my liver weighs more than @TheDude1

Depends on the situation. If I’m doing a float down the river in New Mexico or Colorado then it’s all day long drinking. It’s it’s a get together at a friends then it’s a 6 pack for the night. If it’s just me at home then it’s 1 beer. Sometimes 2.

JC, do you drink your beer(s) before or after supper?

It’s normally when I make dinner. Takes 30-60 minutes depending on what I make. I’ll slowly sip it and time it out that way.

I know how to get drunk. I’m just not into doing it at home without other people. For me booze is a social drug.

Loser.

So how YOU doing?

I’ve completely lost my desk, my chair, my printer and my window view to my wife so I work at the kitchen table now. I guess you could say the coronavirus is causing a lot of pain for me.
