A non-political “How YOU doin?” thread

I have it on HOF personally, but our one friend is just really bad with it. When I first started playing with thedude he was running with our third now, we call him jungle. When we first started he was a great shooter and his timing was fine. He played as a lockdown primarily for the next two games, and just recently made a new shooter who's pie chart is all green. I'm not kidding when I say, it looks like he has completely forgotten how to play the game. Air ball after air ball.

But I agree with you 100 percent, any good shooter most likely has Quick Draw on gold or higher.

What the heck ha. Maybe he needs to build a new jumpshot. Base 98 is good for sharps.

I’m assuming folks have seen these, but in many cities they are doing this nightly “applaud our health care workers” thing, and it’s really incredible to see/hear.

I will say... I think the word “hero” is so, so, SO massively overused in today’s comfortable world.

But goddamn, these nurses and doctors fighting to help people, getting sick themselves, having to live in hotels so they don’t infect their own families... these are actual goddamn heroes.

Look at the bruising on their faces...that’s nuts.

Can't believe this post didn't get a single like.

Its honestly painful to watch. And I love the guy, he's a hell of a defender with a lockdown. But shooting may have passed him by

My friend Shady is a walking bucket on his three level scorer. He made a perimeter lockdown that I didn’t like at first because it didn’t shoot quite as good but now that he’s got the build figured out it’s such a great build.

One problem I have with my center right now is I HAVE to play with two people that can shoot if we are playing good competition. The guard needs to be able to shoot off screens and the 3rd needs to be able to shoot from off ball screens. Otherwise the big can sit paint and things get clogged.

The lockdowns are tough in this game. I played against one the other day and the dude was hitting step back threes from close to half court. I have no idea how some of these guys make the players they do. I think you definitely have to have 2 shooters on the floor with a back to the basket big. At least two guys who make you guard them outside the paint.

Shady’s lockdown gets an 80 3pt shot and 18 shooting badges (12 finishing, 1 playmaking, 17 defense).

G- catch and shoot
G-range extended
G- QD
G- Hot zone
G- green machine
G- dead eye

He has base 98 jump shot, Towns 70% Paul George 30%.

With those badges and jumpshot he shots almost as good as his pure stretch shot. Suggest them to jungle.

Okay, a few things:

First, obviously I wasn't talking about quick draw on his shooter... come on now, I didn't just start playing the game:) The thing is, he is playing with a lockdown right now who maxes out at like six or seven shooting badges. Nearly ALL of his shots are off of a kick out from the post, or a kick from the PG on a drive. But he insists he has to use like three or four of his six badges on quick draw when he is shooting MAYBE 5 percent from three.

You ask me, you get quickdraw MAYBE to silver, and then drop a few on Catch and Shoot and maybe on corner specialist or hot zone hunter. If you are shooting 5%, who cares if you are shooting it quickly or not?

If you are playing with guys who are winning 90% of games on park, no way would we win much against that (although Jimbo would get pissed at me for saying that.) There is a certain level of player that is tough to deal with... usually an iso guard who can drive and hit threes equally easily, and who has a shooter in each corner. That iso/guys in corner shit is just the biggest pussy waste of time ever. If I wanted to play one on one with two teammates sitting in the corner... well, I don't know, I wouldn't want to play that:)

Now me, personally... Jimbo might laugh, but I don't run into many bigs who are just better than me. Maybe one game in ten a guy might have a good game against me and I struggle, but purely better? Not really. My guys biggest weakness is the same as any big slow player with an all blue pie chart... someone with hof contact and hof slippery and all of that just getting a running start from the three point line and using the cheesy hop step to slide past. My pure blue big galoot with his... what, eight defensive badges...?... just can't lock onto that very well. My 6'11 red/blue guy does fine with it. I've been playing exclusively as a video game big guy since NBA Live 2000, and while sometimes I have a crap night, and sometimes I get crap animations, generally speaking I know what I'm doing better than most.

As for stats... sure, I can take a picture. At I think 6.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg, and... actually, I don't know my assists, it actually might be closer to 1.5 now that I am thinking about it. If my damn third could hit A SINGLE SHOT on my perfect kick outs, it would be better;) I will say, Fish has a higher apg than nearly anyone I've ever seen on park... I think he is at a 2.9, and that is with a third who can't hit the wall of a barn from the INSIDE of the barn. That's better than 95% of park players, and better than nearly every one we've played against in 2k20.

Look at that. 2k talk.

What's his pie chart like? All red? I'll have to get with J and see what he is.

Since we are talking shots, mine just for shits and giggles. Tell me what you think.

Base 49
Kobe 70%
Paul George 30%

30 shooting badges total. If I remember correctly, they are like this.

6 HOF (Catch and shoot, deadeye, quick draw, range extender, difficult shots, Volume Shooter)
3 S (Green Machine, Corner Specialist, Clutch Shooter)

I think that's pretty close.

Discussing shots is completely alien to me:)

And yeah, I think part of it is that none of us (you and me, Fish, and J and Brandon and the like)... we don't go online and hunt down "good builds" and stuff. I mean, I know I don't, and I don't think you guys do? Like, I don't know anyone who is famous for playing 2k, or streamers, or anything like that... I just build what I think I will like? I know that makes for some weak builds, but...

Good stuff. I'm fine with being realistic I just like confidence. I think Hail's team would be tough, but if we had another shooter like brandon we could be competitive.

What position are you that you get 30 shooting badges?

I’m not sure about other jumpshots. I’m just a measly glass cleaner but like everyone in the pay leagues run the same jumpshots.

I have someone grinding me a 6’11 shooting glass lock as we speak. Some of my good friends have slashing playmakers and I was tired of them not being able to spread the floor so I made a build where I can pick and pop instead of pick and roll.

My primary guy is all green pie chart and a shooting guard. 6’5 around 200. 30 shooting, 14 playmaking, 10 finishing, and one defense

Yeah I’d like playing with you SmokinSmile

I’ve gotten good at being able to read who’s going to be open while the shot is in the air so if/when I get the offensive rebound I can kick it out for another try.

That play probably gets the most reaction from me. Missed 3, o reb, kick out, made 3. I get pumped.

I would love for you to teach my center how to get an offensive rebound and actually pass it out to the open shooter :) his entitled ass is going back up no matter what! Haha

Maybe one day, man. I love playing with new people. Especially someone from the board.

The thing is.... one of our badges is putback boss and when we have that equipped we feel indestructible on a putback. Especially against smaller people. But the game really likes to hoe us on this and make us doink a layup instead or lose the ball while going up.

I'm on record saying that I'm trying to stop giving out likes. I still do give them out but I eventually want to eliminate giving them out entirely. I already don't like anything on social media so I'm transferring that way of thinking to here.

It's not because I don't enjoy the stories or appreciate the humor. That's not the case at all. I enjoy everybody's content on here. I've just watched the trend in humanity this past decade to people overvaluing the likes they get. I see people's ideas get falsely inflated because they have 20-30 likes saying whatever it is they have to say. I mean, that's a LOT of people agreeing with you (most people's inner circle is HALF that) and in many cases it's pushing an agenda or a conspiracy. There's people on the mainboard that post outrageous things and they consistently get 12+ likes each time and they post stuff 3-6x an hour. It's kind of unsettling. I've literally watched these people go from lurkers that are afraid to speak up to them now having the most confidence of anybody on the board because they think they have so much approval. I don't know though. It's weird, that's all I can say.

There's also the other side where it triggers a false sense of gratification in people's brains that is not the same at all as doing a good deed for your neighbor (as an example). I've read how likes are rewiring how people present themselves and for the most part it is not a good thing. I don't like the idea of people using social media and the internet as a way to legitimize/validate themselves and their lives.

I guess I could just become much more selective in what I do like. I probably should like all of the positive stories and the humor as a way to show my appreciation. I'm not married to this idea of not liking anything so we'll see.

So what's wrong with that?

And sorry op, not trying to change the topic. We can just leave it as is since we know where this might trend.

And just like that, I like Hail:)

Yeah, got putback boss on HoF, and Contact on HoF, and I'm 7'3 and like 270 lbs. When there is only one guy in front of me, or even one in front and one nearby, you HOPE you get a big ass dunk, although sometimes you get some dumb awkward layup. It can be hard to tell... scoring as a big is so much more random and animation based than the shooters, who can literally design EXACTLY the shot animation they will use like 90 percent of the time:)

And I kick it out to you all the time. You know I see you as the primary scoring option:)

The animation that has been pissing me off is when I have a clear open dunk and my guy cocks the ball back behind his head and someone knocks it out. So annoying.

I didn’t see it but it does trigger me a bit when people just credit nurses and doctors. I know it’s not intentional but it takes a team to save lives. I’m not a doctor or a nurse but I have to do 45 minute tests face to face with a COVID patients. It’s taxing.

I work in radiology as an ultrasound tech. Our hospital is prepped and we are on the calm before the storm stage. The worst problem we have right now is low supplies (sanitation wipes, masks). I have to store a mask in a bag for a week and re use it as long as it doesn’t get soiled. Kinda gross.

The problem is that so many people have COVID like symptoms and we have to gone and glove up until their test results come back. It’s just a lot of extra work. A 20 minute exam turns into 35 minutes because of the extra prep and cleaning.

Our sister hospital 10 miles away has 16 workers on quarantine because of a positive test and exposure. That’s going to be a problem if it continues (number of workers is finite, can’t just keep replacing them).

Yeah man, that sucks. The hospitals up around me are already completely overwhelmed, and running out of supplies... and I think we are still facing several much worse weeks. Stay safe!

Have an uncle who was burnt pretty bad. Been in a burn center for a few weeks. They told us He would be in for 2-3 months. Welp, now he is getting out in the next day or two.

Rushing him out because he is very susceptible to the corona virus, with his damaged lungs. Said he would be safer at home.

So yeah.
