Also, I'm thinking about using a simulator to decide the draft order. Maybe taking the average of three simulations

I'm going to do this tomorrow using the Fantasy Sports Random Draft Order Generator.

There will be three simulations. I'll take the average to decide the draft order. I get nervous that my name might pop up first in a one-time simulation. I think three simulations builds credibility, if nothing else. I will be sure to post screenshots of the results.

In the event that two or three posters, whatever it may be, are tied, I'll do a a sudden death round. Might wait an additional day to do the simulation. Build that head-to-head up a little bit... And then we'll start the draft on Monday, October 11th. That should give everyone sufficient time to evaluate the players.

Thursday: Draft Order Revealed
Friday: Sudden Death Rounds, If Necessary
Monday: 1st Pick is on the clock. Remember, you have 24 hours to draft and then the next poster is welcome to skip in front of you.
Midnight on Tuesday: 2nd Pick can select 1st, if the poster with the first overall pick hasn't already made their decision

When it is available, post your league's preseason media poll. Here is the B1G:

Big Ten preseason player of the year

Kofi Cockburn, Illinois (11)

Also receiving votes: Jaden Ivey, Purdue (5); E.J. Liddell, Ohio State, (4); Hunter Dickinson, Michigan, and Trayce Jackson-Davis, Indiana, (3); Trevion Williams, Purdue (2).

Big Ten preseason freshman of the year

Caleb Houstan, Michigan (20)

Also receiving votes: Max Christie, Michigan State (7); Bryce McGowens, Nebraska (1).

Big Ten preseason all-conference team

Kofi Cockburn, Illinois (27)

E.J. Liddell, Ohio State (26)

Hunter Dickinson, Michigan (25)

Jaden Ivey, Purdue (21)

Trayce Jackson-Davis, Indiana (20)

Also receiving votes: Trevion Williams, Purdue (10); Eric Ayala, Maryland (4); Andre Curbelo, Illinois, and DeVante' Jones, Michigan (2); Geo Baker and Ron Harper Jr., Rutgers, and Caleb Houstan, Michigan (1).

I like how organized it is. Already ppl are sharing tools with their sworn enemies.

To be the best, you have to beat the best.

Three simulations. Here we go...

Draft-Simulation1.png

Draft-Simulation2.png

Averages
1. @JimboBBN , 3.67
2. @MGC_07 , 4.67

3. @WojoRising , 5.00
3. @Noahtogo24, 5.00

5. @Jaycg15 , 6.33
5. @GE Nole , 6.33

7. @hailtoyourvictor , 6.67
8. dukedevilz, 7.00

9. @duckboy33 , 7.33
9. @WeAreDePaul , 7.33

11. @boilerzz , 8.67
12. @FaithPlusOne , 10.00

The posters in bold will have three separate sudden death rounds to determine the final draft position.

Jimbo gets the coveted #1 positoin. I think MGC_07 had the #2 spot last year, as well. FaithPlusOne will go last in Round One, but will have the first pick in Round Two.

Well that's less than ideal. Looks like I'm going to have to work a little harder to repeat this year.

If both parties agree before the draft, are we allowed to switch our draft placements?

Don’t love being 2 again. I just don’t see a ton of separation from the top group, but I think I know who I’m going to go with.

Feel free to trade your draft position, if you can find someone. boilerzz sounds like he'd prefer to draft higher, but you may not want to go all the way down to #11.

Feel pretty good about who I’ll get at either 3 or 4

Those are prime positions, IMO. The top 4 dogs seem to be Timme, Chet, Kofi, and Paolo. Maybe Hunter Dickinson, too. So, you'll obviously get a very quality first pick.

Well that's less than ideal. Looks like I'm going to have to work a little harder to repeat this year.

Feel like the only rounds where people actually steal your top available player are rounds 1-3. After round 3, you'll almost always have your top prospect still sitting on the draft board. Those first 3 rounds are really crucial, of course. But, you did get Jalen Suggs in Round 4 and Quentin Grimes in Round 7 last year.

I drafted Mikal Bridges in Round 7 in Year 1. Got Jarret Culver in Round 7 the following year. WeAreDePaul got Obi Toppin in Round 9, I believe. Nobody even drafted Luka Garza in 2020. Lots of gems can be found in the latter rounds.

@WojoRising @Noahtogo24 if either of you want to draft 2 I will swap with you.

You can guarantee yourself your choice of Kofi, Chet, or Paulo. I’m only trading down because I don’t have enough conviction on who I think is the best, but if any of you do you can jump ahead and get which you prefer.

dammit I get screwed as usual.

I guess 9/10 is better than 11 which is where I would've been drafting if we stuck to how we did it last few years.

You had Garza last year, though. He was #2 in voting for NPOY in 2020. That was a pretty obvious #1 overall selection.

You'll be alright. I mean, you did pull Obi Toppin in what? Round 8 or 9? To win, I think you need a combination of 4-5 really great picks + an 8-man roster that doesn't have any complete duds.

Ouch. Well, at least I’ll have a decent excuse for my future results.

It's not a terrible place to be in. Once you get past the first 5-6 guys, there's not much of a difference, in terms of ceiling, between the 7th best and 12th best player. And you'll get the first pick of the second round. So statistically, you're more likely to have 2 All-Americans than anyone else.

In the first year of the draft, I believe WojoRising had two All-Americans with the same draft position as you; he took Jalen Brunson and Jevon Carter with his back-to-back picks. And then in 2020, can't remember who it was, but they took Tre Jones and Jalen Smith, both All-Americans, with back-to-back picks.

Too late to join?

I'll defer to the group. Just conducted a simulation with the draft order. If you did join, I think you'd probably get the last pick in the first round.

How do others feel? I'll allow it we we have 5 of the other draft participants vote yes. You can vote yes by liking this post - or simply by letting us know in this thread. Would like to put the timer on this decision as the end of Friday night.

I vote no, 12 is more than enough. I'd like to know who more than 3 of my players are.

@ThePhog08 How badly do you want to join? It is fun for me, no doubt. But I don't follow other teams the way I used to. If its something you really want to do, you can play for me. I think I came in last the prior year haha
