Down to 23 minutes and 41 seconds. Not bad for this 40 y/o man .
I played basketball last weekend and I think my knee is shot. Either way, it was fun to compete.
I bet it was go all in.
If its my time or the shot. Yes.
Hell yeah. Get it my man.
I’m in the 28 min range at 43, but I’m sure that’ll be dropping significantly since being put on TRT. My stamina is insane now. Need to get out in get a time because I would probably destroy where I was just a few months ago. I’m so addicted to Peloton rides though that it’s hard to get out for a run.
That's awesome get it down my man.
Quit running in Dec and have focused on strength since. Went and ran a mile about a month ago and it was around the same time from Dec, but no way I was doing 3 miles.....
I am 36 and usually run a 5k in about 24:20-24:40...however I have run it as fast as 22:50 on a flat course. However I am extremely flat footed with short compact legs. Think of a silverback.
My best time ever 18:49. Which was a failure, had to beat 18:00. My one and a half mile split was 8:36. I actually thought I ran faster the back half. But I obviously lost time!?!?!?
My average time was around 20:30ish. My last USMC PFT, I took it easy and came it at 23:50ish. It felt like I was walking. That was 30 years ago.
On my Police TEAMS unit we had to run a Mile and 1/2 in under 13 minutes. Which correlates to 26 minutes 3 mile run. However right after the long run we had to do a 300 meter sprint in under a minute. 5 pull ups in full gear. Had to be pull ups not chin ups. 50 push ups in two minutes, can't stop. 80 crunches. 200 pound dummy carry and drag 100 yards. Can't stop or drop. Did that up till July of 2012.
You guys weren’t jacking around... Was your group a city wide emergency response unit?
Yes, and sometimes County. We were the only cert hostage rescue team besides the State Police. We average about 150 warrants/incidents per year.
3 squads, 8 operators 1 Sgt per. With a Lt as Commander.
I served as a operator. Breacher first then bunker team cover. Depending on threat, shotgun, SMG or M4.
Then team leader (Sgt)
And one year as Commander (Lt)
I did about 300ish warrants services/entries. Very very few we're knock. Almost all no knock. Dozens of barricades and couple hostage.
My proudest achievement, we never lost a officer. Only 2 bad guys made bad choices.
Search/arrest warrants... Serious business.
That's great times. I'm shocked how quick my stamina came back. I haven't ran 3 miles in over a decade and got my run time down within 2 months.
Bout an hour
That's a really good time. Not sure if I could run a 7:30 min mile right now. I need to get back to it.
Get it back. My goal was 24 minutes, but it keeps going down. I might aim for the 22 minute mark.
I’m 50 and can speed walk that fast without conditioning
AARP start stuffing your mailbox yet?
Why would you run 3 miles? What sort of madness is that.........
My right knee has one of two things wrong with it, aside from recovering from an ACL tear years ago.
I either tore my LCL or meniscus....or I have something pinching near the outside of my knee causing pain throughout my leg.
I can't jump a six inch stair on my right leg. It feels like it's gonna give out when I land, and I always feel pain squatting.
But at least I can still play basketball!!
Sounds a bit slow for a 40 year old in decent shape. Can't run any more due to a fractured spine incident .. can't take the pounding so I ride a bike. Up until my 50's I would run 3-5 times a week .. same pace .. 3 miles in 21 minutes flat. Used to run cross country in college .. race times for 5 miles back then had to be 25 flat to be competitive. Best mile I ever did .. back then in a race .. was 4:30 and that was 4 laps around a 1/4 mile track at the beginning of a 5 mile race. Good old days.
Good job OP. Keep grinding.
In my prime it was 15.33
My running days are long gone.
To make the Millennials look bad . Just joking, I just want too.
Best was 5 miles in 31 minutes. The winner of the race beat me by over a mile.
What shoe is everyone using? I’m currently using Brooks Ghost 7 but they are going to need replaced here soon, so wanted to hear some suggestions.
21:45 about 20 years ago. I need to get back on it and see if I can match that.
I just got some Nike Flex RN on clearance and I love them.
U sure about that? That's close to wr pace.
I’m typically run in Nikes but tried a pair of ‘On Cloud’ shoes since they seem to be all the rage. Not sure I even got 250 miles out of them and they’re toast. After the first few runs they were just never that comfortable and I’ll probably be trying some Brooks or Hokas. These have been a disappointment and give then both a toe and knee injury.
I used to run a 5k in 17:50.
Haven’t run one in 15 years.
I just cycled 2 miles in 4:23 though, which is tougher than my old 5k time.
For three miles? Nah. I was fast but not wr fast.
Wr is right at 13min for guys and 14 or 14:30 for gals.
The WR for 5k is 12:37. I raced against a couple kids in high school that ran sub 15’s so a 15:33 PR seems entirely plausible.
My current time is 19:30
Trying to break 100 minutes for a half marathon this year
It only takes me about 18 minutes.
To get off the couch.
In high school we ran 5 k races . If I remember I could run one in about 18 minutes. I could run a sub 40 10 k.
