The ACC went 8-2 on the first day of the tournament. 3 seed Duke and 2 seed Georgia Tech both fell. The SEC didn't fare as well, going 4-2. Both South Carolina and Ole Miss fell at home as 1 seeds. Fellow 1 seed Vanderbilt had their game postponed. Big12 swept all of its games, going 3-0. The Big10 fared as expected, going 1-2. The only win came when Ohio St downed fellow in-state powerhouse Wright St in extra innings. Pac12 fared a little better, going 2-2.

SEC keeps going down like a $20 whore. Ole Miss goes 0-2 & BBQ. Candy gets destroyed @ home by 4 seed Xavier. 3 of the SEC's 7 1 seeds lose in first game. Overrated?

    Duke sent home
    Clemson (National Seed) gets rolled
    Wake gets rolled
Defending NC UVA loses (at home) to a 4-seed and will likely be playing Meadowcreek tomorrow morning.

The SEC was 14-13 against the ACC in the regular season. The Candy Canes went down like a cheap *hore at home to the Mighty Gators. The Seminoles were even worse against the Gators.

In the NCAAs, thus far the Mighty SEC is treating the whimpy ACC like the red headed step child that they are. The only national seed to lose a game thus far is a representative of.. you guessed it...the ACC.

Oh, the SEC is 3-0 against the ACC thus far. And Florida State comes to Gainesville

    Suck on some of that.

ACC guaranteed one CWS team ...

With 3 seed Boston College winning their regional, to face Miami in Coral Gables for Super.

What planet are you from? What drugs are you on? Only Nat'l seed to a game is from ACC? The only 0-2 & BBQ Nat'l seeds are Ole Miss & Vandy...SEC teams. Winning %s so far:

    SEC 68.75%
    ACC 67.86%

When you realize that all SEC teams were 1 seeds while ACC had a couple 3-3s and a 2, ACC's #s are far more impressive. Have another drink bro!

    Oh Dear.

Bless your little heart. Try and understand this.

There are only 8 national seeds. There are, however, 16 teams that host a Regional. The National seeds, and pay attention here, are the ones that if they win their Region, will host a Super Regional.

Clemson is a National Seed. Ole Miss and Vandy were not.

Clemson has already lost one game. The only National Seed to do so. They are down by four runs right now in the bottom of the 7th inning. So they could be eliminated tonight. If so, they will be the first and only National Seed to be eliminated.

Clemson just lost. The first and only National Seed to be eliminated. What is ironic is that even though USCe lost their first game Friday, with the elimination of Clemson, they are one win from hosting a Super Regional.

If that happens, consider this; the Mighty SEC could have 5 teams hosting a Super Regional. Florida and TAM have already punched their ticket to host.

LSU will have to win one of the two next games, MSU will hang on to win tonight or win tomorrow for the SEC to have five teams host. And as mentioned, USCe will have to win tomorrow too.

    But it could happen.

So SEC had 7 1 seeds while the ACC had 6. They both have 4 going to supers, with a chance to get 1 more. What am I missing? 4/7 for SEC, 4/6 for ACC. My math skills must really stink.

Your math skills do stink. As well as your knowledge of college baseball

ACC had three national seeds, six seeds hosting regionals and overall 9 teams in the NCAA
The SEC had four national seeds, seven seeds hosting regionals and 7 teams overall.

Through the first round, here is what we have left to date.

    ACC
Florida State is in a Super Regional, not hosting
BC is in a Super Regional, not hosting
Louisville is hosting a Super Regional
Miami is hosting a Super Regional.

NC State has to beat Coastal Carolina two times to make it to LSU's Super Regional.

So 2 of 3 National seeds advance. 4/6 regional hosts advanced with one left to go and 4/8 teams invited advance with one to go.

    SEC
    Florida host a Super Regional
    TAM hosts a Super Regional
    MSU hosts a Super Regional

LSU has to win one of the next two games to advance and USCe has to win the next game to advance.

So, 3 out of 3 national seeds advance, with one left to go. 3 out of 5 regional hosts with two left to go and 3 out of 5 overall with two left to go.

Considering the SEC schools, except Vanderbilt, are all state supported with massive enrollments compared to the ACC, which are mostly much smaller private schools, one has to bring accolades to the ACC for their achievements in all sports. I am not even discussing the large and corrupt cash to recruits from major donors that the SEC is noted for. I would take a college degree from BC, UM, Duke, etc., over Alabama, Miss State, UF, etc. and so would anyone with half a brain.

    Some random thoughts ...

-- ACC has performed better than expected, the numbers don't lie.

-- A 3 seed Boston College winning the Ole Miss regional is pretty remarkable, and could be something BC builds on in the future. Not playing a home game for the first 20 some-odd games in the season is a tough way to build a baseball program..

-- Vandy losing their regional isn't a shocker, given the tragedy that they endured. Just a heartbreaking situation. I totally feel for those kids.

-- Clemson getting taken out by Oklahoma State is a statement for the Cowboys. Clemson was obliterating the ball.

Lotsa baseball to be played. It should be interesting to watch it play out.

Saw earlier today on Baseball America or d1baseball (don't remember which) that the BIG12 was the best conference in the tournament so far. While their 9-1 record & 3 teams moving on is very impressive, confused how that makes them the best? SEC had 3 move on with a combined 9-0 record. They can also add LSU & USCe. ACC had 4 move on with a combined 12-0 record. NCSU could also move on today. So the BIG12 is BETTER because their conference ISNT GOOD ENOUGH to put more than 3 teams in the field, protecting their winning %?

LSU and Rice play a game 7 today at 4.
South Carolina plays theirs at 2.
NC State plays an exciting bases loaded ninth inning in a 5-3 game at 2.

    Supers:
    FSU at 1-Florida
    LSU/Rice vs Coastal Carolina/NC State
    ECU at 5-Texas Tech
    TCU at 4-Texas A&M
    UCSB at 2-Louisville
    South Carolina/UNCW vs Oklahoma State
    Arizona at 6-Mississippi State
    Boston College at 3-Miami

If the favorites win today the SEC will be hosting five super regionals, the ACC two, and the Big 12 one with Texas Tech.

Coastal Carolina wins in the top of the ninth against NC State.

So, in this "invitational" the ACC started with 9 overall teams and 6 overall regional #1 seeds. Three of those were national seeds.

Two of three national seeds moved on. Clemson lost.

Three of six regional seeds moved on, including the national seeds.

And one at large team moved on

So, that is four of nine

Now that USCe has moved on, that makes 4 of 7 SEC teams to the Regional.

Conference pride aside, I am not sure I will be rooting for LSU tonight. If we make it to the CWS, our road might be a bit easier if we don not have to face them.

I think Florida, TAM, and LSU will all make it to the Finals. I also think Miami and Louisville will also make it. Not sure about USCe.

Don't jinx my Cards!!! UCSB can "Cal St Fullerton" us if we're not careful!! That loss in extra innings, with a home run that I swear was foul, still hurts. Woulda been 3 straight CWS appearances for the Cards.

I think that loss has been a strong motivator for this year's squad. But man ... it still stings.

Baseball can be funny ... We got bounced pretty easily in the ACC tourney, just like the year before. For some reason, lately, we haven't had good conference tourney showings.

The post season has been fun to watch this year, even with all the weather delays ... actually, that may have allowed me to see more regional action ...

I expect the next couple weeks to be fun.

    ACC...SEC....Big12....

lets face it...this time of year...any teams playing are there because of elite talent and great coaching....

though clearly no fan of the acc.....lets admit that this time of year...and the Road to Omaha... is the greatest, truest athletic competition left in America...

athletes who arent on full scholarships (despite acc claims to the contrary) and are truly playing for the love, joy and passion of the game. Carolina fans saw such a kid just a few days ago in Ryan Foster...the UNC-Wilmington ace who was tied for most wins nationally coming into the game. A kid who was playing for the love of the sport....had already decided that his future did not lay in pro ball....and therefore he would do whatever it took to get his team a victory. The kid has heart...passion..drive and dedication. He is the epitome of why this time of year is so great.

Tip of hat to the Gauchos.

Still stunned at that walk-off grand slam. Wow.

Tough to lose, but really tough to lose that way.

So much it being an ACC/SEC tourney. No SEC team in so far (UF vs. FSU still to play). Only ACC team in is Miami. Only top 8 seeds to make it Miami #3, Texas Tech #6. Wow!

1/3 of the B12's nine teams are in the CWS.

My Cowboys are the only team to not have suffered a loss so far in the tourney.

It's now become the BIG12 Invitational. Miami & FSU/UF are hoping to crash the party. What a strange year. I usually bankroll a vacation betting this tournament. No free trip this year. I've lost big $ this time around.
