I thought it was good. Got a chuckle out of Calhoun and his "all about the education" nonsense.
I think my favorite is still The U but they've got a Ric Flair one coming up soon.

it was pretty fair, you didn't like it because it didn't fit your narrative that Cal is a bad guy.... I can't wait for the UNC 30 for 30, An A for play, the Carolina way...

The alternative is that people do get busy or have other engagements, but may still have an opinion on Cal.

Or everybody watched it and is ashamed. Either or.

True. There seems to be a distinction between "I didn't watch it yet" and "I didn't watch it." That isn't to say I feel everyone will watch it (or should) either, the differentiating statement is "I didn't watch it . . . and won't. Let's talk about it."

I watched the one on Laettner and it flipped how I felt about him. I can have an intelligent conversation about it. Watching it before bashing or continuing on an established path about it makes an opinion on it cogent. Without watching it, my comments really wouldn't warrant consideration.

Even if I am not a fan of the subject, I'm still going to watch every 30 for 30. The track record of the series speaks for itself. Pure gold for anyone that loves sports documentaries.

On a related note, would love to see one about how the 5-star camp came into existence and evolved over time. I'm sure there is loads of old footage. Love seeing all the star college basketball players before they were stars.

That would be good! I'd also love to see one about the fanbases, and the reasons they follow their teams, and the limits of their passion (i.e. the AL fan that poisoned the trees at Auburn). There are some real characters our there.

Eh, might make some hate him more. They didn't shy away from all his bad press. That said, and I'm not his biggest fan, but I can see why he keeps landing elite recruits. The man is an effective salesman who does appear genuine about how much he cares about his players and the path he's pretty blunt about selling. The Camby relationship stood out in particular.

Dajuan Wagner making 7 million when Cal couldve talked him into another year easily stood out to me. Cal is the best thing to happen to college basketball. He takes a bunch of 1 and done frosh and makes it competitive since everyone else is dealing in juniors and senior 4 stars who are developed. Competitive balance is reached since he pushes kids to the draft instead of Roy Williams-ing them.

Very vaguely remember that. There have been other stories about Calipari being borderline paranoid about the media while at the Nets. Apparently had assistants call in shows and back him or something like that.

Yeah someone on our premium board said the exact same thing about Cal being paranoid of the media, supposedly heard it from someone who was with the Nets at the time.

I've never been a cal fan. Loud mouth people that can't stop talking and shamelessly self promote are not exactly likable. He can coach, he can recruit, he is good for his schools success......but his persona always reminds me of the quote " when youre good you'll try to tell everybody, when you're great, they'll tell you. He is kinda like Kanye West. The 30 was interesting, but it just showed more of the same xalipari everyone knows. Loud, obnoxious, and successful.

The reason hes so loud is he constantly has to silence the haters. When people sre co stantly questioning you, you have no choice but to always be on the defensive - and he sure has a good reason for his one and done system for the olayers who make millions thru his program.

At the very minimum, Cal has brought 50% of the sh$t directly on himself. Is all of it fair.....no. But anybody as braggadocios as Cal kinda can't expect people to get on board with his ego. At least those not benefiting from his ego.

Are you really running with this? You're angle is very offense and I'm sure that was point. Knowledge is key here. You're just going to run with stereotypes?
A state one that borders Indiana is some how dumber due to state lines?

IU fans are smarter due to being above the Ohio river? That's your angle?

Geez man. You'd think they could figure out away to not hire Sampson and Crean.

That's where you're wrong, myself along with every other UK fan screamed Cal was a cheat because we saw it on ESPN and every other sports station. Like most other fans now we didn't care about the facts because we just knew he had to be guilty because ESPN spun it that way. When he became our coach we worried about gettin into trouble so we read up on him and found out what really happened and maybe you should do the same. Camby himself said that Cal had absolutely no clue what was going on so how can you dispute that? You can't you just wanna say he's guilty because you want him to be a dirty coach. He was told at Memphis that Rose was eligible to play so why would he not play him? At the end of the season the NCAA said Rose wasn't eligible and they took away the season. How's that Cals fault???? You're just one of them fans who wanna act like you don't have an agenda against Cal when it's clear you do. You may not like it but he was cleared by the NCAA in both cases and has absolutely nothing in his record so you can get over it or just let it eat at you because he's not what you want him to be:)

I thought it was fair and spot on, as I remember things as they happened. Love Cal or hate him, but you have to respect the fact that he brought UMASS and Memphis from nothing to the top.

When did i say anything about Indiana being "smarter"? Its not a stereotype its just a fact based on numbers. Don't get upset about it, just the way the state of Kentucky is. You may be in the minority so don't take offense, but on the whole kentucky's education numbers are very low so its hard to believe that they "gained knowledge on the Cal situation".

Haven't read any further to see if this was discussed but I also thought the KU one wasn't that great. And yes Clive, that was their 30 for 30. The bidding war at the end was cool to watch. Anytime you get to see a guy exploiting his fvck you money powers is cool but the first 45 minutes was just some 25 year old kid begging the richest alumni for money to buy the rules. It was tacky and he put all of them on the spot in front of a camera. He didn't even have a solid pitch for them. He basically sat them down, turned the camera on and said you're rich please buy the rules for Kansas.

When Indiana is the #1 meth producer in the country, you shouldn't be climbing on any high horse to preach to KY residents about education. The Appalachian region of the state is the reason for those education #'s, yet you choose to ignore that.

I didn't watch the whole thing but the biggest thing that stood out to me was that Calipari will always have a players back. It's probably one of the reasons (besides WWW) he's such a damn good recruiter.
